India beat Sri Lanka by 3 runs in the nail biting high scoring 1st ODI in which total 825 runs has been scored on December 15, 2009 at Rajkot. Virender Sehwag and Tilakratne Dlshan scored superb centuries from their sides.

India made 414-7 in 50 overs thanks to Sehwag's century of 146 runs of 102 balls and contribution from Sachin Tendulkar made 69 runs and Dhoni 72 runs.

Sri lanka replied even better than India and put 188 runs for the 1st wicket thanks toDilshan's century with 160 runs and then Sangakkara scored 90 runs of 43 balls. They were comfortably placed at 316-1 in 36.3 overs but not able to finish.

Early morning Day 2 of the 3rd and final test between Sri Lanka continuing on their first innings score could not go on much further and ending its innings at 393 runs. Angelo Mathews, Sri Lanka’s last hope just missed his maiden century by getting run out on 99.

Harbhajan picked up 4 wickets yesterday and could not take any further wickets today. Pragyan Ojha took three and Sreeshant & Zaheer Khan both claiming one each.
The new opening pair of Virender Sehwag & M Vijay had an aggressive start scoring a 109 run partnership and still going strong. Vijay was at 40 and Sehwag on 69 as I write this post.

India outperformed Sri Lanka in all departments by scoring a huge score of 642 and them getting them out early in the first innings and finishing off the game in the fourth day of the test match. Sreesanth performed well to claim the Man of the Match with his 6 wickets effort.

This is what Sangakkara had to say after the match: "It was a very good wicket. A bit in it for a few overs. It got slower and slower and made it a bit difficult to bat on. Exceptional performance by Sreesanth, great first innings by India and a poor one from us. that decided the match."

New Zealand wrapped the Pakistan inning early in the morning with the addition of 25 runs and Shane Bond took 5 wickets for 107 runs well supported by Martin with 3 wickets and got a crucial 97 runs 1st inning lead.

Pakistan then back strongly with 2 wickets without a run but Ross Taylor again made a good contribution with 59 runs but Asif and Aamer bowled brilliantly with 4 wickets and 2 wickets respectively and restricted New Zealand to 147-8 with a total lead of 244 runs and 2 wickets in hand.

Dravid punches one during his century stand to break Allan Borders record.

Dravid scored yet another century and doing this he overtook Allan Border's record of 11,174 Test runs to become the fourth-highest run-scorer in Test cricket. India piled a huge 417 a record in itself for India being the highest score scored by India on the first day of a test match.

Rahul Dravid himself had scored 85 runs out of the humongous first day score. Before Dravid could come to the crease Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir had already scored centuries with an opening stand of 233 runs.

New Zealand started the day from 276-6 with MucCullum on 25 and Vettori on 40 runs and they added 164 runs for th 7th wicket as McCullum contributed 78 runs while Vettori was bit unlucky as he was out on 99 runs and missed a deserving century.

For Pakistan it was a tough day as they manged only took 2 wickets and both taken by fast bowler Umar Gul. Play will start half an hour early tomorrow to compensate the today's loss.

India started the final day from 190/2 and trailing by 153 runs with Gambhr batting on 74 and night watcman Amit Mishra and after Mishra got out its master blaster Sachin Tendulkar first put 66 runs for the 4th wicket with Gambhir who scored 114 runs and then put 137 runs not out with Laxman who hit unbeaten 51 runs while Tendulkar made unbeaten 100 before both captain agreed for a draw on the flat pitch.

Mahela Jayawardhane got Man of the Match for his double century 275 runs in the 1st inning.

Indian Cricket League (ICL) run by Essel Sports Private Ltd (ESPL) slaps a case on ICC, the Engligh Cricket Board (ECB) and the India Cricket Board (BCCI) for jeopardizing the venture by unlawfully banning players who had joined the so called rebel Cricket league.

The notice has been served by London-based legal firm Ingram Winter Green, claiming that the barring of ICL players from international cricket, particularly the county circuit, violated England's restraint of trade laws. The ECB has been named as the first respondent in the notice while the BCCI and ICC have been named as second and third respondents respectively.

New Zealand without their captain Daniel Vettori made only 200/9 in 50 overs due to tight bowling by Australian pace bowlers Lee and Hauritz took 2 and 3 wickets respectively.

A impressive showing of Sri Lanka batting prowess; led well from the start by Tillakaratne Dilshan scoring 106 in 92 balls and getting good support from fellow batsmen in Kumara Sangakkara (54) and Mahela Jayawardene (77). South Africa won the toss and the dewy nature of the pitch enticed Smith to bowl first. The toss and Jayasurya wicket went his way but after that the entire game was in Sri Lankas hand. Sehwag recommends Gautam Gambhir as successor of Delhi Daredevils Captain

Virender Sehwag earlier refused leading the national team as a captain, has now stepped down from the captaincy of Delhi Daredevil on the eve of the Champions League Twenty20 tournament. He recommended Gautam Gambhir to be the suitable leader who would be replacing him as the captain to lead the DD team into the tournament. Sehwag said "I would like to thank GMR [the franchise owners] for their understanding in accepting my request to step down. The 15 member team lead by MS Dhoni is keen to get the trophy home and climb up the ladder in the ODI rankings. The team got delayed as the stipulated carrier Jet Airways pilots went on a nation wide strike and thus Air India had to fly a special flight picking up few of the players from Bangalore who played for Air India team in the recently concluded BCCI Corporate trophy.

In a thrilling 1st ODI Australia beat England by 4 run on Friday, September 4, at The Oval. Australia made 260/5 in 50 overs while Emgland made 256/8 in 50 overs. Adil Rashid tried hard with 23 balls 31 runs gone in vain.

Australia invited to bat 1st got a slow start but Cameron White and Callum Ferguson hit half centuries with 53 and unbeaten 71 runs respectively helped them to recover. Hussey and Hopes hit quick runs in the end and the total to 260/5 in 50 overs.

For England, Ravi Bopra back in form with 49 runs but wickets at regular intervals kept them below required run rate which proved crucial in the end. Adil Rashid hit 23 balls 31 runs but unable to finish the game.

Jacob Oram's hat-trick helps New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 3 runs in 1st T20

Jacob Oram took 2nd hat-trick of the Twenty20 and guided New Zealand to a thrilling victory against Sri lanka in the 1st Twenty20 game on September 2nd, 2009 at Colombo.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first managed 141 run for 8 wickets in 20 overs as only Ross Taylor scored a fighting 60 runs. Lasith Malinga took 2 wickets for Sri Lanka.

In reply, Sri Lanka started well by in-form batsman Tilakratne Dilshan who scored 28 balls 57 runs with 8 fours and 2 sixes but tight bowling by captain Daniel Vettori took 2 wickets for just 11 runs and Jacob Oram's hat-trick secured a close 3 run victory for visitors.

Daniel Vettori got Man of the Match for his economical bowling.
