Four new Venues for IPL3 - One extra match for Third place

Third edition of IPL will have four new venues which will start from March 12 to April 25 2009. Four new venues are the Nagpur, Visakhapatnam, Ahmedabad and Dharamsala hosting some games of the Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers, Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab, respectively.

IPL3 will have 60 games instead of regular 59 games tournament and one extra game will be for third place between the losing semi-finalists and that team will qualify for the T20 Champions League.

Good news for ICL players as they can participate in IPL3 and they will be valued in two categories; Indian domestic players will be paid Rs 8-20 lakh ($18,000-45,000) while foreign players will be made available through auction, depending on their demand.

Strategic timeout will also reduced from seven-and-a-half minutes to five in third edition of IPL. IPL commissioner Lalit Modi also announced 2 extra franchises for the 2010 season through an auction to be held next January, and the tournament will expand from 60 games to 94.
