Sachin Tendulkar the "master blaster" considered as the greatest player of cricket and still going great guns recently completed 17,178 runs in ODI and 12,773 runs in Test cricket; has completed 20 grand years in International cricket.

His Test debut & ODI was against Pakistan in a tour to Pakistan in the year 1989 at a very young age of 16 years. He was well known for his hitting ability (Abdul Qadir's spin bowling was manhandeled by this young talent.)

His cricketing career has been on a high ever since he had been a part of the Indian Team, without missing any major seasons till recently he missed a few series due to a tennis elbow injury which haunted him again and again.

Excerpts of an interview given by Sachin Tendulkar to Wisden Cricketer reveals that Sachin has a desire to reach 15,000 runs in Test cricket as Sunil Gavaskar requested him to do so and also would be unhappy if he didn’t manage to get the runs to reach that landmark. Excerpts also reveals that he is not very pleased with the comments by John Buchanan about Sachin unable to handle the short deliveries, and justified himself by saying that John need not be correct always, and he needs to correct himself in saying so as if he (Sachin) has problems facing the short pitch deliveries than why has he been scoring heavily against the top bowlers in world cricket.

He also mentioned in his interview that Sehwag is the closest one who has reached to his caliber in terms of batting style.

Match Summary:

ai Indians 122 for 2 (Bravo 70*, Tendulkar 41*) beat Kings XI Punjab 119 for 9 (Sohal 43, Duminy 2-15) by 8 wickets

Mumbai Indians had a dream start with their spin bowling unit providing vital breakthrough's to restrict Yuvraj's team Kings XI Punjab for a meager total of 119 which seemed like an easy total.

Punjab missed out the services of their in form middle order batsman Mahela Jayawardene. Kings XI Punjab were to blame themselves with some sloppy running between wicket's and poor shot selection, though they had a good start scoring 50 runs of the first 32 balls.

Sachin Tendulkar coming down the order at number 4, enjoyed his time at the pitch scoring some free flowing runs along with Bravo who survived a close shave with a dropped chance at the bowling of Irfan Pathan.

In all a welcome win for Mumbai Indian who liven their hope of making it to the Top 4 teams top qualify for the Semifinals.
