Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 52 runs in one off T20, Afridi Man of the Match

Shahid Afridi played a captain's inning of 50 runs and took 1 wicket in one off Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka by 52 runs on August 12, 2009 at Colombo.T20 World Champions Pakistan once again outperformed Sri Lanka in the shortest version of the game.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first made 172/5 in 20 overs. Imran Nazir hit 40 runs and Shahid Afridi made 50 runs while Umar Akmal and Abdul Razzaq contributed 30 runs and 25 not out respectively.

Sri Lanka in reply bowled out on 120 runs in 18.1 overs and only Sangakkara scored 38 runs due to fine bowling by Saeed Ajmal and Naved-ul-Hasan took 3 wickets each.

Pakistan 172 for 5 (Afridi 50, Nazir 40) beat Sri Lanka 120 (Sangakkara 38, Ajmal 3-18, Naved 3-19) by 52 runs.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka Team, Squad for Only T20

After the test series and ODI series Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play only Twenty20 match on August 12th at Colombo. Both teams anounced their 20 20 teams as they will meet again after T20 WC.

Pakistan named all rounder Shahid Afridi as T20 captain after retirement of Younis Khan while Sri Lankan team will be lead by wicket keeper batsman Kumara Sangakkara.

Pakistan lost the ODI series by 3-2 but end the series with a big win of 132 runs in the 5th and final ODI against Sri Lanka on Sunday, August 9th at Colombo. Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka ends with one off T20 on August 12th.

Pakistan batting first scored 279/8 in 50 overs with the contribution of 76 runs by captain Younis Khan and unbeaten 73 runs by Misbah-ul-Haq.

Naved-ul-Hasan scored quick fire 33 runs and then got 4 wickets for 44 runs and grabbed Man of the Match award and Sri Lanka's Thilan Thushara got Man of the Series award

Pakistan and Sri Lanka will meet for the 4th ODI of the already decided series which Sri Lanka won by 3-0, on Friday, August 6th at Premadasa Stadium, Colombo from 14:30 local, 09:00 GMT.

Sri Lanka can give rest to their key players before the T20 and New Zealand's arrival as they are also looking for a clean sweep. Ajantha Mendis can play his first one day in place of Muttiah Muralitharan.

Pakistan's poor run continues on their tour of Sri Lanka as they lost third ODI by 6 wickets and lost the series also as Sri Lanka took unbeatable 3-0 lead in the 5 match series.

Pakistan after loosing the toss made 288/9 in 50 overs, put 71 runs partnership between Younis and Kamran Akmal scored 45 runs and 44 runs respectively and ne lad Umar Akmal 65 balls 66 runs then late assault by ICL heroes Razzak and Naved-ul-Hasan contributed 30 runs each.

Sri Lanka then replied with a 202 runs partnership for the 1st wicket and set up a comfortable chase for a record run chase at Dambulla. Mahela Jayawardhane hit a ton with 123 runs and Tharanga made 76 runs.

Sri Lanka 289 for 4 (Jayawardene 123, Tharanga 76) beat Pakistan 288 for 8 (Umar Akmal 66, Kamran Akmal 45) by six wickets.

Muttiah Murlitharan will retire from Test cricket in Nov 2010

Muttiah Murlitharan has decided to quit from test cricket by year end 2010. He will retire from test cricket after the West Indies tour of Sri Lanka playing two test matches in November 2010.

The king of off spin, popularly known as Murli, sitting a top with 770 wickets in 127 Test matches and rightfully owns the numero uno bowler tag with the most number of wickets in both forms of the games.

We wish him well and will also miss his tweaks in Test cricket next year on

A valiant fight by the tailenders Umar Gul (33 runs - last to get bowled, of a Malinga yorker) and Mohammed Amer (23 runs – run out by Jayawardene) brought the Pakistan score to a close finish but eventually it proved too much for the tail to clinch the match.

Sangakkara's Ton helps to draw 3rd Test - Sri Lanka won the series by 2-0

Third test match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan drawn thanks to brilliant unbeaten century by Sri Lankan captain Kumara Sangakkara with 130 runs and batted almost 4 sessions. Sri Lanka lost only 1 wicket on the final day and scored 208 runs and at one time they are looking for a record chase while Pakistan lost an opportunity as the unable to take 10 wickets in 5 sessions. Sri lanka won the 3 match series by 2-0 and Kulasekara awarded Man of the Series.

Thushara takes 5 wickets to halt Pakistan at 299 – Day 2 3rd Test Match PAK v SL

Thilan Thushara the sensational fast bowler of Sri Lanka, takes 5 Pakistan wickets and restricts Pakistan to get a big score for the first innings. Pakistan as usual again showing it brittleness in the batting as they suddenly laid down 6 wickets by scoring just 14 runs towards the death of the innings. Pakistan managed to score 299

Pakistan had a steady start but then regular fall of wickets made a slow progress in terms of runs. Khurran Manzoor and Mohammad Yousuf both falling in the nineties gave a sad display for the Pakistani fans and even worse was the collapse of the lower order in the first session of day 2.

Pakistan v. Sri Lanka 3rd Test Preview - Pak vs SL 3rd Test

3rd test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will start from Monday, July 20th, 2009 at Colombo. Sri Lanka already won the 3 match test series by 2-0, their first home series win against Pakistan.

Sri Lanka recalled fast left-arm bowler Chaminda Vaas in the team but Muralitharan has not included in the team. Sri Lanka can experiment with new players and give rest to some key players before ODI series.
