India Loose Against New Zealand in First Warmup Match ICC Champions Trophy 2009 | NZ Beat IND

Before ICC Champions Trophy 2009, ICC had scheduled some warm matches on 18th & 20th September 2009. New Zealand defeated India by 103 runs in the first warm up match of India at Potchefstroom. Thus New Zealand took its revenge of the defeat in the lately ended Compaq Cup in Sri Lanka.

New Zealand batsman played very well specially the both Martin Guptill (63) and Jesse Ryder (57) gave a strong base and with Neil Broom (66 off 46 balls) blasting batting to lead New Zealand score to 301. Shane Bond & Captain Denial Vettroi bowled very well against India.
Some bright spots were noticed: Abhishek Nayar (41) was quite impressive in batting. Amit Mishra & Yousuf Pathan bowled very ecnomically. But still India's bowling is a weaklink and needs drasticall improvement to stage a real challenge to the other Teams.

In other warm matches, Sri Lanka won against West Indies by 5 wickets at Pretoria. Pakistan won against Warriors by 6 wickets at Bennoi.

Champions Trophy 2009 – Indian Team Selected, Rahul Dravid surprise inclusion in ODI team

India on Monday included Rahul Dravid in the 30 member squad for the Champions Trophy in South Africa in September 2009. Rahul had been out of the ODI lineup for the past 2 years and the surprise inclusion by the board must have been due to the shortcoming of the young Indian team to tackle the short balls. India failed lately in the department. Also the move was inspired by Rahul Draivd’s good form in the recently concluded IPL 2009 which helped his team to reach the Finals.

The eight-nation Champions Trophy will be held from September 24 to October 5.

India squad for the ICC Knock out Champions Trophy:

M S Dhoni(C), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan, Abhishek Nayar, Ishant Sharma, Zaheer Khan, Rudra Pratap Singh, Praveen Kumar, Harbhajan Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Ravindra Jadeja, Dinesh Karthik, Munaf Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Murali Vijay, Amit Mishra, Ajinkya Rahane, Dhawal Kulkarni, Subramaniam Badrinath, Ashish Nehra, Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar Singh, Wriddhiman Saha, Pankaj Singh.
