Andrew Flintoff is recovering well from his recent bout of knee injury which worsened while playing for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2009 tournament. He was named in the 15 man playing squad for the World cup, considering a miraculous recovery could allow him to be a very vital member of English squad for the World Twenty20 Championship. But decision taken by the English Board along with his surgeon came against him to be considered for this World cup and prepare him well for the Ashes, which will start at Cardiff on 8 July.Andrew Flintoff missed all his Test and ODI matches against West Indies (fortunately West Indies didn’t allow England to miss his services with some floppy performances) and will further miss the T20 World Cup next month.
With due permission from ICC, the English Board pushed in Adil Rashid as the replacement in place of Andrew Flintoff for the World Cup.
