Sehwag recommends Gautam Gambhir as successor of Delhi Daredevils Captain

Virender Sehwag earlier refused leading the national team as a captain, has now stepped down from the captaincy of Delhi Daredevil on the eve of the Champions League Twenty20 tournament. He recommended Gautam Gambhir to be the suitable leader who would be replacing him as the captain to lead the DD team into the tournament. Sehwag said "I would like to thank GMR [the franchise owners] for their understanding in accepting my request to step down. Personally, I would like to concentrate on my own batting and contribute to the team."

Sehway recommends Gautam Gambhir as his successor saying "Gautam did a great job of captaining Delhi and also during IPL 2 in South Africa this year, He has shown very good leadership skills and will bring fresh energy into the Delhi Daredevils."

Sehwag had recently injured his shoulder and had to sit out of the Compaq Cup in Sri Lanka.

Delhi Daredevils (DD) Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) - IPL 2009 52nd Match

56 grueling matches, intense and hard fought, filled with joy and anguish which ended in the top 4 teams of this season of IPL 2009.

Some superb stories and few awful follies. But the most impressive road to the semifinals had been that of Royal Challengers Bangalore; the team who were the real underdogs with a pathetic showing in last IPL forcing the owner Mr. Vijay Mallya to take stern steps of sacking its top management. A good showing towards the end of the qualifying round got them through to the semifinals.

Delhi Daredevils on the other hand had an impressive showing and leading the charts for quite a while remaining insurmountable and under no pressure; had a easy road to the semi finals.

The Semifinals rounds start today with Delhi Daredevils taking on Deccan Chargers.
