The Compaq Cup (Sri Lanka, India and New Zealand - Triangular Series) is the perfect build up competition for the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa. Ist match of triangular series will be played between New Zealand and Sri Lanka on 8th September, 2009 at at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. The Match will start at 14:30 local, 09:00 GMT.

New Zealand became a dangerous team with the return of Shane Bond who gives them the x-factor who has the ability to fire Sri Lanka batting line up. Kyle Mills and Ian Butler who are doing an excellent job to support Bond while the spin bowling will be done by Vettori and Jeetan Patel. The most thrilling and match winning pair of McCullum and Ryder can blast any bowling attack of any team as they shown the second Twenty20 match. The middle order consists of Martin Guptill, Ross Taylor, and Jacob Oram that is a very experience batting middle order.

Sri Lanka is playing well under the new leadership of Sangakkara. Dilshan as an innovative and big hitting opener has formed a thrilling opening pair with Jayasuria and the reliable Sangakkara. Sri Lanka have the best bowling attack of the three teams as Mendis and Maligna who are destructive bowlers who win matches in single hand and with Matthews, Kulasekara, Dilshan and Jayasuria are very handy bowlers.
