Younis Khan retires from 20 20 Cricket

Younis Khan would not have got another brilliant opportunity to announce his retirement from the shorter version of the game. A trend which was first set by the Indian senior players (Dravid, Tendulkar & Ganguly) of saying NO to the shorter and high paced version of cricket

Lifting the trophy was the sweetest moment for Younis Khan. He mentioned
“This is my last Twenty20 game, I'm old now for this kind of cricket."

He dedicated the victory to the late Bob Woolmer, ex coach of Pakistan (mysteriously died in West Indies) saying:

"This final must go to Bob Woolmer, He was doing good things with us in 2005 and especially my cricket. I would be very proud if he was alive and sitting with me because he's a very nice guy and was a father figure for us. Why I am captain is because in 2005 - at that time I was not a regular player for Pakistan - he was the guy who all the time was chatting with the chairman and the selectors that Younis will be the next captain. So because of him I have became a captain. I dedicate this final to Bob Woolmer."

So in all a well called decision by Younis Khan on a glorious eve for Pakistan cricket.

Pakistan struggled a lot to qualify for the Semi final from the start of tournament. Pakistan was the runner up in previous T20 world cup so this time they want to grab this T20 world Champion Title. South Africa is the only semi finalists who have not lost any game so far in the tournament so they just need to continue the current momentum. The strong point of South Africa is that they have got a number of quality all-rounder players like J P Duminy, Roelof van der Merwe, Johan Botha, Albie Morkel and experienced Jacques Kallis. South Africa have some good clean hitter of ball like Skipper Greame Smith, AB de Villiers and J P Duminy while in bowling also they have some quality fast bowlers like Dale Steyn, Jacques Kallis with young Wayne Parnell who bowled very well against West indies 4 wickets for 13 runs in 4 overs.

In the 9th match of ICC T20 World Cup 2009, Pakistan will face Netherlands in a do-or-die match today at Lord's, London starting from 12:30 GMT, 6.00 PM IST. It will be interesting to see who will join England in the Super Eights from their group.

Pakistan has already lost their opening game to England by 48 runs.
