Manish Pandey's Century helps Bangalore to finish 3rd, Deccan 4th



Manish Pandey, an under-19 batsman became the first Indian to score a century in IPL history and the 2nd player to score a century in this years edition of IPL2 , scoring a quickfire 114 runs off just 73 balls with 10 fours and 4 sixes thus guiding Royal Challengers Bangalore to a comfortable victory against Deccan and helping them to 3rd in the IPL rankings to avoid a clash with point leaders Delhi in the semi-finals.

Bangalore lost their last match hero Jacques Kallis in the 2nd over and Manish Pandey was offer a life when he was dropped earlier in the inning's proving a costly one for Deccan who went ahead and scored his maiden ton of 2009 IPL to take Bangalore to a competitive total of 170/4 in 20 overs.

Deccan then started strongly making 68 runs in 7 overs as Gibbs made 60 runs off 43 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes but wickets falling at regular intervals due to some tight bowling by Anil Kumble and Akhil took 2 wickets each to restrict Deccan Chargers to 158/6 in 20 overs.

Deccan Chargers finished 4th in points table will meet top team Delhi Daredevils in the 1st semifinal on Friday, May 22nd, while 2nd position Chennai Super Kings will meet 3rd place Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2nd semifinal on Saturday, May 23rd, 2009.
