Brief summary of the match:
South Africa 130 for 5 (de Villiers 63) beat India 118 for 8 (Rohit 29, Botha 3-16, Steyn 2-25) by 12 runs
India’s disappointing show of cricket continues with the lack of win’s; I'm expecting a security packed Mumbai airport as the team returns back to India. With effigies of Dhoni burnt in his own hometown and other places in India; the Indian cricket fans have been hurt and sad at the display of cricket by the Champions of last time's T20 World Cup. Lalit Modi’s CEO of IPL will also have to reconsider his plans of having two IPL tournaments in a year which will further increase the work load on the Indian players. A well devised rotation practice has to be employed to get more players playing the tournament and lesser games for each players keeping them fit and charged to perform.
Sorry for getting diverted from the update of yesterdays match between India v South Africa.
Back to the match: South Africa is the future Champion team of this years ICC 20 20 World Cup. That’s my prediction and they have proved it in the past two weeks. SA is a team which has not been challenged yet by any other team and the players are in immense touch of 20 20 cricket to beat any other team currently playing this nature of the game.
Abraham Benjamin de Villiers has been a revelation in this World Cup with consistently performing by scoring quick runs. In a spin friendly pitch he scored 63 of 51 balls where every other player failed to understand the nature of the pitch. The spinners troubled the SA players by bowling a tight line and keeping the scoring under control, resulting in 130 for 5 wickets in 20 overs was what South Africa could manage.
India’s chase was even pathetic with only Yuvraj and Harbhajan showing some sort of resistance but the spin duo of J Botha and R van der Merwe scalped 4 wickets among themselves to put a block in the scoring by India batsmen. Btha was outstanding taking 3 wickets. Dhoni as he is running out of words to express his failure, will have more apologies to the Indian fans who have been heart broken by India’s exit of the World Cup without offering any major fight.
